Meeting Katie Piper and Hetty Bower

Well the lunch was amazing as I expected, what an honour to be in the room with some many extraordinary women all achieving in a diverse range of fields....including me! I even had my picture up on the huge TV screen (that was a bit embarrassing!) I was delighted to meet Julia Donaldson the children's Laureate who gave me some great contacts and advice regarding breaking into the world of publishing. I chatted with celebs, journalists and a real suffragette Hetty Bower,who at 105 is still a peace campaigner, wow what a a spirit! I also had the delight of meeting Katie Piper who's series I had followed on channel 4. She had acid thrown in her face by an ex boyfriend and from her awful experience has created a charity to support people with disfigurement (The Katie Piper Foundation).....if you haven't seen the series you must watch it.Katie is a goddess and such a sparkly light of energy despite her emotional and physical scars.....I was truly honored to meet her.

What I take away from this lunch is that all these amazing women have a purpose that is bigger than their own gain, they are angels making a difference to the world...........

Now I must go and shine my light and get to work on bringing my beautiful picture books into publication to inspire children and adults worldwide!

Brighton Art Fair

Hello world, I've been inside the corn exchange for 4 days exhibiting, just 30 mins left of this wonderful Art Fair. Such a well organized event and such great people. Made some sales and some brilliant contacts for publishing....very excited about what that will bring. Another book idea emerging too. Gonna have a nice rest tonight!

How exciting....i just received a letter from Women of The Year saying I have been selected as a Woman of achievement and I have a special invitation to their lunch in October. Women of the Year raise alot of money for charitable initiatives that change women's lives and acknowledge the massive contribution that women are making to our planet! Of course I don't expect any award but I will hopefully have the opportunity to meet many amazing women and put some of my artwork in a goody bag, so a great networking and promotional opportunity! Hi everyone
Ive been working on some new drawings for my children's book about the moon....yes i'm still madly inspired by the moon so i'm running with it until i get bored.....anyway i've got 8 more images to complete for my book so i'd better stay with it. I will post a sneak preview of the images soon so keep watching.

My Business Award

Back in January I worked my socks off and won a business award and a big grant to kickstart my illustration business. It was a huge acknowledgment of what can be achieved when you set your mind to it and that dreams really can come true! The presentation at the beautiful Old Rectory Hotel in Hastings was unforgettable, someone actually said the atmosphere was as tense as the Xfactor! I was presented with a big fat check and a pat on the back from my competitors. Now I can call myself an entrepreneur!

Ive set up the blog to keep you all posted with what i'm up to with my business and how i'm investing my £5000 award. Watch this space for further press!
